Clients can experience mental illness from a variety of factors, including environment, genetics, and stress. I believe the root cause of most anxiety, panic, and depression symptoms are from unprocessed traumatic events, along with lacking the tools to manage these symptoms.
I use CBT to challenge cognitive distortions the client has about the world, other people, and themselves. For traumatic experiences, I use EMDR so the client can effectively process these memories to extinguish symptoms of PTSD and other trauma-related complications.
I aim to make a comfortable and safe space for my clients to process through difficult emotions and experiences from a trauma-based and client-centered perspective. My goal is to help clients utilize tools given to them in session for daily application in their lives.
